The 101st Anniversary of Sogetsu “Ikebana” flower arrangement exhibition

The 101st exhibit was held simultaneously at Sogetsu Hall and Aoyama Spiral Hall. Presented multiple different setups unique to each space, both in our design construction, as well as the production. We will be introducing you to a project in which we utilized the unique expertise of Nomura Duo that ranges from designing to construction.

The 101st exhibition took place in both Sogetsu Hall and Aoyama Spiral Hall. In Sogetsu Hall, we expressed the 90-year history and technology of Sogetsu-ryu in which they had explored the endless possibilities of “Ikebana” flower arrangements. In Aoyama Spiral Hall, we presented a unique and new space that challenges the traditional ideas of flower arrangement.

Standout features in this production

For the exhibition at Sogetsu Hall, we used unique features such as dividing the space with black frame boxes where the flowers can be displayed and alternatively coloring the wall and fixtures all white to allow the flowers to stand out. In the Aoyama Spiral Hall exhibition, we questioned the stereotype of a typical flower arrangement exhibition by using methods as spreading medical bandages all over the room to make it appear like spider webs, placing wooden arches on floors and walls to surprise the viewers and made them think, “is this traditional Ikebana?“.

My style. My values.

I constantly think that there are no one right answer in my work. When in doubt, think from the bottom up, when on a roll, make sure to doubt your process - this may not be a character to be proud of. I value cooperation in our workplace, I believe I'm only here today because of my trustworthy suppliers.
